Tactic Identity Design Published — Recent corporate identity design selected for publication.

Corporate Identity Design Recognized

We were super-excited to see our copy of iheartlogos’ Season Two book arrive last week! Our recent identity redesign for NOW Courier was selected for publication this time around, and we’re pleased to have our work represented alongside so many other great identities.

iheartlogos, a popular logo design competition where “the competitors are the judges — and vice versa,” received approximately 1,300 entries in the Season Two competition. 450 were selected for publication.

Apple’s Latest Innovations for the iPad — Are iBooks the future of education?

E-books have been a growingly popular trend among adults and children for the last few years on tablets, such as Amazon’s Kindle and Apple’s iPad. As both companies continue investing in brand development initiatives, the real power of these devices has remained untapped until recently.

When Apple first launched the iPad my initial thought was, “finally, technology that will help us get out of expensive, outdated, heavy textbooks and in to exciting and interactive educational materials.” I saw the potential immediately and was ecstatic. The only problem was that there was almost no mention of this until the release of the iPad 2. Sure, there were a few startup companies excited for the new development platform and what this could mean for engaging our youth more effectively, but ultimately the cost to develop a single interactive textbook was just prohibitive. Why would any of the major textbook publishers like Pearson, McGraw Hill, and Houghton Mifflin want to invest that kind of money when the current system works? Plus, the technology was still relatively new and untested. So, early adoption was probably not even on their radar.

Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion and Purpose — Taking a second look at what makes Zappos.com Inc. #6 on Fortune's Top 100 Companies to Work For List.

Working as a writer and studying English in college, it probably comes as no surprise that naturally, I love to read. Over a year ago I purchased the book, “Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion and Purpose” by Tony Hiesh, CEO of Zappos.com, Inc. My first read-through of the book was more for pleasure to learn the history of Zappos and the people behind it. But as I’ve had the opportunity to read this inspiring book for a second time, I took a different approach at learning from it.

A Book of Inspiration — 'I Wonder' by Marian Bantjes is now available to purchase.

I Wonder

One of the great things about studying graphic design at Bowling Green was the wonderful guest lecturers our professors brought in for “ARTalks.” When I was a junior, they invited Vancouver-based graphic artist Marian Bantjes to campus. I did not know much about her then, but as she started sharing her work with us, I was immediately drawn to her elaborate and ornamental designs and custom type. Not only was it different from my style, but it was different than anything I’d ever seen before. Since then, I’ve followed her work and recent projects, and she has only grown in popularity. She has done beautiful work for Saks Fifth Avenue, Wired Magazine and Maharam wallpapers, as well projects for some big names in design, like Pentagram, Stefan Sagmeister and Debbie Millman. Most recently, she released a new book called I Wonder, and it’s been on my wish list since I first heard about it.

Do Judge by its Cover — Finding good design in book covers.

Don’t judge a book by its cover.” This cliche exists for a reason: we constantly judge things by their appearance and often the “covers” don’t do justice to the content inside.
